Definition

With this indicator, you determine if the hierarchy which you are currently editing is to be visible system-wide.

When you create and edit hierarchies they usually are only valid for the component where you create them. They are not available in other components. If you wish a hierarchy to be valid in all components, then set this indicator. A prerequisite for the hierarchy to be visible is that the field to which the hierarchy refers is contained in the field catalog of the relevant component.

The visibility is established for the entire hierarchy. Visibility settings for specific branches or individual nodes of the hierarchy are not possible. The default setting for newly created hierarchies is "not visible system-wide".
