Definition

Date on which the planning run is to be carried out. The planning date is used only in conjunction with time-phased materials planning.

Use

Time-phased materials planning is used mainly in the SAP merchandise management system (Retail).

In materials planning, only materials are planned in time-phased materials planning whose planning date in the planning file is the same as this date. You use the planning cycle (a planning calendar) in the material master record to assign planning days to a material.

Procedure

The planning date is normally the current date. However, you can also enter any other date you like (for example, if you exceptionally need to plan requirements earlier).
