Definition
Key for a workstation application.
Use
You can use the application to create, process, or store in a secure in a secure area (storage category) original files (for example, text files) directly from the document info record.
Dependencies
Before you can process an original file with an application you must make the following entries in the document info record:
- Define the storage location (path) where the original application file is stored.
- If the data that you want to edit with the application is stored on another computer, you must also enter a data carrier in the document info record.
In Customizing for the Document Management System several settings influence processing of original files.

The user needs the authorization to start the application for the document type: (authorization object C_DRAW_DOK).
Example
You can enter the following applications in a document info record:
- Acrobat Reader
- MS Power Point
- MS Word 6.0
When you have set the default for the application to MS Word 6.0 in Customizing (Define document type) then this application is preset when creating an original file.

Use
The system determines the workstation application (that you enter in the profile) in the following processing situations:
- Display document info record as well as Display product structure when the indicator For display is set additionally
- Print document (for example, form an outside document management system) when the indicator For printing is set additonally.
Dependencies
These settings act like filters when you print or display documents.
Example
You enter the following workstation application with the indicator For display in profile P-1:
- WRD (Microsoft Word)
- TIF (TIFF picture)
When a user with profile P-1 selects the function Display dokument only originals are displayed in the tab page that were processed with both of these applications as well as the the document data.
