Documentation

Definition

This indicator determines whether the old change status of a sub-item is retained for documentation purposes after a change has been made.

Use

If you change at least one of the sub-items for an item, the system creates a new item record for the new change status.

On the item overview, you can select a change status and go to the sub-item overview (Goto -> More -> Sub-item overview).

Procedure

Examples

Item 0010 has 2 sub-items (SIs) that were created with reference to change number N-1 (Valid from 12/12/1998):

Sub    Quantity    Text

0001    10    Sector A
0002    3    Sector B

Sub-item 0001 os changed with change number N-2 (Valid from 05/08/1999):

Sub    Quantity    Text

0001    10    Sector A-111

The change is interpreted as follows on the item overview:

  • If indicator for sub-item documentation is set

On the item overview, you see 2 different item records for item 0010 with the different effectivity data.

  • If indicator for sub-item documentation is not set

On the item overview, you only see one item record for item 0010.

Dependencies

The new item record is only created if you make a change that applies under different effectivity conditions, as is the case if you use change numbers with different valid-from dates, for example.
