Documentation
Definition
This character string identifies items within an item group.
Use
If you make item changes with reference to a change number whose effectivity is determined by a parameter effectivity (for example, serial number effectivity), you can group together these change statuses via the item group and item variant to a logical unit.
Procedure
Enter the same item variants for the different change statuses of the item.
Examples
The following data groups together three change statuses of item 0010 (material component M-1):
- Item group: AAAA-1001-00000-1111
- Item variant: 01
Item Item group Variant Valid from
0010 AAAA-1001-00000-1111 01 12/12/1997
0010 AAAA-1001-00000-1111 01 05/03/1998 <==
0010 AAAA-1001-00000-1111 01 08/12/1998
If you explode the BOM with the Valid-from date 05/20/1998, you see the change status of the item that is valid from 05/03/1998. Item Item group Variant Serial number range 0010 AAAA-1001-00000-1111 01 1-100 0010 AAAA-1001-00000-1111 01 101-500 <== 0010 AAAA-1001-00000-1111 01 501-1000 If you enter the value 200 for the serial number in the BOM explosion, the change status of the item that is valid in the serial number range 101-500 is chosen.
Dependencies
You enter an item variant to define how the items in an item group are interpreted.
- Same item variant in an item group
Several change statuses form one unit (see example).
When you explode the BOM, one change status of the item is found, on the basis of the validity you defined (for example, the valid-from date you entered).
- Different item variants
Each item variant is read separately: the change statuses do not form a unit.
Different item variants within an item group are currently for information only.
