If you activate this indicator and choose Cross-Period Lot Size, the optimizer in Supply Network Planning (SNP) in SAP Supply Chain Planning (SAP SCM) can perform cross-period lot size planning for this resource. During this planning, the SNP optimizer takes into account the setup statuses from the previous period, if the same production process model (PPM) or production data structure (PDS) is used to produce a product within this period. This means that the optimizer only schedules one setup operation. The system then calculates the setup costs and setup consumptions (fixed resource and material consumptions) that were defined in the PPM/PDS for a resource for which the Period Lot Size indicator has been set.
If you activate this indicator and choose Sequence-Dependent Lot Size, the SNP optimizer can perform sequence-dependent lot size planning for this resource. This means that the optimizer takes into account setup costs and setup times that you have defined in the setup matrix.
Dependencies
Cross-Period Lot Size:
You must activate cross-period lot size planning in the SNP optimizer profile in SAP SCM, in other words, you must specify a period in the Cross-Period Lot Size field, across which the optimizer is to take into account the setup statuses from the previous period, if the same PPM is being used to produce a product within this period.
The PPM/PDS that is taken into account by the SNP optimizer during planning in SAP SCM must use this resource.
The PPM/PDS is permitted to use a maximum of one resource for which the Period Lot Size indicator has been set.
The PPM/PDS is not permitted to use any other resources with fixed resource consumption.
The PPM/PDS duration must be less than or equal to the smallest bucket from the planning buckets profile being used.
Sequence-Dependent Lot Size:
You must activate sequence-dependent lot size planning in the SNP optimizer profile in SAP SCM, in other words, you must specify a period in the Sequence-Dependent Lot Size field, across which the optimizer is to take into account sequence-dependent lot sizes.
The PDS that is taken into account by the SNP optimizer during planning in SAP SCM must use this resource and must contain a setup group. Only PDS are supported for this function. PDS that were created using iPPE are not supported.
The PDS is permitted to use a maximum of one resource for which the Period Lot Size indicator has been set.
