Definition
Position of a requirement in a combined requirement or requirements list.
Use
- When a combined requirement or requirements list consists of more than one other (simple or combined) requirement, the single requirements that make up the list are listed together with a position number.
- When the sequence of single requirements in a combined requirement is relevant, the position number can also be used to determine this sequence.
Note: The requirement type determines whether the sequence is relevant or not.
Dependencies
The position is used to differentiate between the individual elements of the combined list and it must be unique for each single requirement in any given combined requirement.
The assigned numbers need not be consecutive. We recommend that you leave gaps between the individual position numbers (so that requirements can be added later on) if the sequence is relevant.
Note:
A combined requirement or requirements list must not contain itself directly or indirectly.
Example
If the requirement 012345 is made up of requirements 00001, 00002, 00003, 00004 and 00005, you could assign position numbers 0010, 0020, 0030, 0040 and 0050 to these requirements.
If you have to add requirement 00815 at a late date in position two, you can insert this requirement in position two by using position number 0015.
