Definition

The code page used to store all transparent data in the database.

It is used for all fields defined in the database as CHAR or LONG CHAR. (The database is meant here, not the Data Dictionary.) In the Data Dictionary, these fields can have many different SAP data types, but must be in a table flagged as "TRANSP".

This code page definition is not responsible for all data stored by the SAP system non-transparently in the database (neither pools not clusters).

This entry can only be made once during installation. If you want to change it later, you must convert the contents of the database.

Normally, the code page to use is proposed by the database management system and the computer, on which the database is stored.
