Definition
The week assignment rule in planning determines how the weeks are to be transferred to months. An assignment is required when data in an operating concern is to be stored not only in months, but also in weeks.
Months and weeks and treated similarly to product ranges and products in planning. That is, if you plan a product, the product group value will also be affected. In the same way, if you plan on a weekly basis, the monthly value will change.
The week assignment rule determines how a week is assigned if it falls across two calendar months.
Example
Calendar week 27 in 1997 falls partly in June (Monday) and partly in July (Tuesday to Sunday).
Week 27, Year 1997: Mon 6/30/1997
Tue 7/01/1997
Wed 7/02/1997
Thu 7/03/1997
Fri 7/04/1997
Sat 7/05/1997
Sun 7/06/1997
Using week assignment rule 1 (calendar days), the weekly value is assigned to the months according to the number of calendar days, i.e. 1/7 to June and 6/7 to July.
According to week assignment rule 2 (work days according to factory calendar), the weekly value is assigned according to the number of working days in the months, i.e. for a five day week, 1/5 is assigned to June and 4/5 to July.
Note
If you use week assignment rule 2, you must maintain the factory calendar ID. This is not necessary for week assignment rule 1.
When you use week assignment rule 2 (factory calendar), the system distributes by calendar days if there are no working days for an entire week (for example, if the company is closed for vacation).
