Definition

Determines that the material number of the material created by uploading the product to the OLTP System should be assigned internally, instead of using the product ID as the material number on a 1:1 basis.

Normally it is not necessary to use internal number assignment for the material number. However, if there is already a material in the OLTP System with a material number the same as your product ID and this material is not related to the product concerned, internal number assignment should be used for the material. Similarly, if the product ID was not restricted to 18 characters in the Customizing step Define Output Format and Storage Form of Product IDs (transaction COMCPRFORMAT) and you have a product ID with more than 18 characters, you must use internal number assignment.
