Definition

All alternative units of measure maintained for a product refer to the base unit of measure. The system converts all quantities you enter in alternative units of measure to the base unit of measure.

Procedure

You can specify the base unit of measure as well as alternative units of measure with their conversion factors when maintaining the product data.

Bear in mind that all values entered in alternative units of measure will be converted to the base unit of measure. The entry you make here is therefore very important. A quantity can only be accurately represented in an alternative unit of measure if there are enough decimal places available. To ensure that this is the case, take into account the following points:

• The base unit of measure is the unit providing the greatest accuracy
• Conversions from alternative units of measure to the base unit of measure should result in simple decimal fractions (therefore not 1/3 = 0.333...).
