Definition
You can designate one hierarchy as a configuration hierarchy per product type.
This has the following effects:
- You can assign a category in this hierarchy set types with configurable attributes.
- When you create a configurable product, you must assign this product a category from the configuration hierarchy (of this product type). This will allow you to maintain value ranges and default values for all configurable attributes at product level.
- All categories and their configurable attributes are stored in the PME (Product Modeling Environment).
Note
You can also assign set types with configurable attributes to a category from a hierarchy that is not the configuration hierarchy. However, the attributes are then treated as non-configurable ('normal') attributes at product level.
