Documentation
Description
The key figure gives the no. of items, which are blocked during the availability check, so that the material is not available to any other user. The block stays in place, until the relevant process is saved. It is set at material - plant level.
Use of the key figure for analysis purposes
This block can result in lengthy waiting times when a large number of users work with the same material at the same time.
Structure and use of detail displays
The no. of items, which have used this blocking procedure is shown in the detail display. The checking group and the initator are given as the key fields for which the blocking procedure has been set up.
Information for optimisation
As well as this blocking procedure the system offers an alternative procedure known as blocking with amounts. You can use this blocking procedure if you want several users to work on the same material in various different processes, without blocking one another. This procedure is the best option when there is a high level of work
simultaneously on the same material.
Example :
You create an order for Material 1. Material 1 is then blocked according to the setting for the duration of the availability check. The amount reserved for this process is recorded in the lock table. Each user currently using the material receives the information. in this way the information from the availability check is distributed and the user gets an exact picture of the present availability situation. When the availability check is finished, the block is lifted.
