Definition
Customs quotas are based on special legal requirements and represent reduced customs duty rates which are granted within a specific period of time. A customs quota ends when a specific import volume has been reached. Afterwards, the regular customs duty is valid.
Example
The following applies to Europe: The quota quantity is valid for the whole European Community. The quotas are managed by the Commission of the European Communities.
