Definition

This code number is only used for importing goods. The length of the code number (that is, the customs code number) depends on the country or state group. The first six digits of this number are the same worldwide.

Example

European Union

In the European Union, this number always has 11 digits. You can extend the code number by national codes. In the SAP system, the additional codes anti-dumping, customs quota, pharmaceutical products, and consumption tax are specified separately and can be determined automatically.
The first eight digits of the code number and the commodity code are the same.

Japan

In Japan, the code number has 10 digits.
The code number and the commodity code have the same length but can have different structures.
You can distinguish between the code number for import - Yunyutokeihinmokubango - from the Customs Tariff Schedule Japan and the commodity code - Yushutsutokeihinmokubango - from the Export Statistical Schedule. In this case, you can select the import code number by using the load program of the relevant diskette. This means that only these selected code numbers will be copied into the code number field in the import purchase order. Otherwise, the commodity code is copied into the import purchase order, both into the commodity code field and the code number field.
You must make this conversion by using table T604U and "From country = To Country".

USA

In the USA, the code number also has 10 digits.
The commodity code (Harmonized System (HS) - Schedule B) has ten digits
and can deviate from the code number (customs code number).
