Definition

Key defining how a cost estimate is created and valuated.

Use

You can create either a unit cost estimate or a product cost estimate depending on the object being costed.

A product cost estimate is used to calculate the planned costs for producing a material.

The costing variant in product costing determines

  • how the bills of material and routings are selected to form the quantity structure
  • which prices are selected to valuate the quantity structure
  • how the overhead surcharges are calculated

A unit cost estimate is used to calculate the planned costs for the following objects:
