Definition

The following processing types are defined for settlement:

  • 1 Automatic

All distribution rules for a sender are selected. Note the following special features:

    • If a sender only has distribution rules with the PER settlement type, then only the settlement period costs are selected and settled.
    • If a sender has distribution rules with the the PER settlement type (PER rules), and distrubution rules with the FUL settlement type (FUL rules), then the PER rules are used first for the costs in the settlement period. If there are still costs left over, then the FUL rules are used.
    • A production order with a FUL rule to Material is only settled once it is technically completed, or completely delivered. Until then, however, "work in progress" can be transferred to financial accounting, if this was specified for the order (-> Order accrual calculation).
    • For investment measures, the system only uses the FUL rules first if the measure is technically completed (compare with partial capitalization). Settlement to asset(s) under construction is always made regardless of the status.

Supplementary Documentation - CO_VAART 0002

  • 2 Periodic
    • All distribution rules with the settlement type PRE, PER and AUC are selected. The PER rules are applied first (except for investment measures).
    • The PRE rules are applied first for investment measures, and then the remaining amount is settled with the automatically generated AUC rules to the asset under construction.
  • Three: Partial Capitalization

You use this processing type to partially capitalize an investment measure that is not technically completed, so that a part of the total cost to complete assets is settled.

For investment measures, the partial capitalization and the full settlement processing types are the same.

  • Eight: Full Settlement

Use this type of processing if a sender only contains distribution rules with the PER settlement type, and if a balance check is to be made after settlement (see example).

This type of processing is for example, useful for production cost collectors that only have one distribution rule with receiver material and the PER settlement type.

    Example:

An order has a distribution rule:

100% to cost center one, PER settlement type

In period one, the order is

    • Debited with costs: + 1000.00
    • Settled : - 1000.00

Then in period two, the order is

    • Debited with costs: + 2000.00
    • Period one is then debited with + 100.00

Then settlement for period two is started.

    • If you use processing type one to settle automatically, the system settles the costs from period two: 2000.00
    • If you use processing type eight to make a full settlement, the system settles the costs in the period, and then calculates the cumulated order balance up until the settlement period.

In this example, the balance is not zero, and the settlement issues an error message. Before settlement in period two, you can repeat settlement for period one, so that it is completely settled.

      Note

Or you can give the sender a second distribution rule with the FUL settlement type also.

      Example:

An order has two distribution rules:

    • 100% to cost center one, PER settlement type
    • 100% to cost center one, FUL settlement type

The system automatically makes a full settlement for processing type one also. The costs posted afterwards in period one are settled to the cost center, but in period two.

See also the documentation for the FUL settlement type. Activity allocations to the order, in particular, are treated differently during a settlement to the cost center.

  • 7 Automatically After Settlement to Order Item

An automatic settlement is carried out, as described in 1. In doing so, the orders that were settled at the beginning of period-end closing with the function Distribution Co-Product Orders (transaction CO8A) are not included again. If the Distribution Co-Product Orders function is used, processing type 7 should be preferred to processing type 7 (for performance reasons) when the plant is subsequently settled.

      Example:

    • 100% to cost center one, PER settlement type
    • 100% to cost center one, FUL settlement type

  • O Project-Based Incoming Orders

Only the data from the project-based incoming orders can be settled to the profitability analysis.

The actual-distribution rule for the sender to the profitability segment is copied and used for the settlement.

Senders not relevant to settlement are listed in statistics under Not for settlement.

  • P Project-Based Incoming Orders that are automatically included

In addition to the automatic order settlement (processing type 1), the data (for project-based incoming orders) is settled to the profitability analysis.

Only periodic posting rules are settled with cost center, order, or project as receiver.
