Definition

Number that serves to differentiate between cost estimates for the same material.

Use

You use costing versions for the following purposes:

• To execute multiple cost estimates for the same material based on the same costing variant and save them to the database
• To execute a mixed cost estimate

You define the mixing ratios based on a quantity structure type, which you assign to a costing version in Customizing

• To include a particular transfer price variant in a profit center cost estimate (see also: valuation view)
• In Cost Object Controlling, for variance calculation purposes. You can define which costing version is to be used by the system to calculate target costs in order to calculate total variances, production variances or materials planning variances. (See Define Target Cost Versions.)
