Definition
If you check off this box, the report structure will be saved in the report portfolio. In other words, only the structure of the list(s) and graphics will be saved. The report portfolio report will not save the data in your current drill-down report.
In the report portfolio, you can select new data again at any time. As data selection can take a long time, it is often useful to undertake data selection at a certain point in time (e.g. periodically each night or each month) using 'Drill down' -> 'Report data' -> 'Print/Actualize'.
This means that the data selection does not necessarily have to take place with execution in the report definition, but rather can take place in advance. You can execute a report more quickly, as in a data report, but you have the possibility of reselecting whenever you like. It is because of this that is usually better to display a definition report.
If your drill-down report structure contains variables which you do not specify until you execute the report, the same dialog box will appear in the report portfolio report for you to specify the variables.
Please note that a definition report is dependent on sub-objects, in the same way as a drill-down report. The changes to the form, the key figures or the variables can be seen in the report (insofar as is possible). In very serious cases (for example, deletion of sub-objects) it can be the case that the adjustment of the report is not possible and that a renewed display of the definition report is necessary.
