Documentation
Definition
Key that defines in which area (such as production), a bill of material can be used.
Use
By selecting various indicators you define the item status' maximum valid range and control whether the item has to/can be processed in the specified area (for example, production) or whether no processing is allowed at all.
Procedure
Examples
You can maintain separate bills of material with different items for a material in the organizational areas of production and costing:
- Production BOMs:
The BOM enters items that are relevant for production. These production- relevant items are transferred to the planned order and dependent requirements are determined. These items are also copied to the production order during conversion. The production department is requested to manufacture the material via the production order.
- Costing BOMs:
The BOM enters items that are relevant for determining the material usage costs of an product.
For example, if you create a calculation with a quantity structure, the BOM is automatically determined and all costing relevant items for determining the cost of goods manufactured are entered.
