Documentation
Definition
Specifies the language that is used as the default report language in the label tree of label printing in the Label Information group box and for automatic creation of print requests.
Use
The report language is used during label determination and label generation and can be entered as the default report language for all users in the Customizing activity Make Settings for Basic Data.
If you do not specify a default report language, the logon language of the user is used as the report language.
Dependencies
During dynamic label determination and when the status check is used to determine a label as a report body (defined in the Customizing activity Define Print Scenarios under Status Check for Label Determination), only labels in the label tree for label printing are displayed or only automatic print requests are generated for the labels if the default report language is specified for the assigned report bodies. The labels for the report bodies are hidden or a print request is not generated for the labels for which a default report language has not been specified.
During static label determination and when the status check is used to determine a label as a report body (defined in the Customizing activity Define Print Scenarios under Status Check for Label Determination), the labels for all report generation variants are displayed in the label tree for label printing. It is not until label generation that the system checks whether body reports exist for which a default language is specified.
If the status check to determine a label as a layout (defined in the Customizing activity Define Print Scenarios under Status Check for Label Determination) is used, the report language is not used until label generation. In other words, labels are generated for report generation variants and in the default report language, or a print request is generated for these labels.
To ensure a consistent system environment, we recommend that you use EN as the default report language. Note that the report bodies for labels are only created in this default language.
Example
Dynamic Label Determination, Configuration Without a Default Report Language
A report generation variant with the report language EN was created for a report body. When a user logs on to the system with the language DE, a label is not displayed and a print request is not generated. To view the label, the user has to select EN as the default report language.
Dynamic Label Determination, Configuration with Default Report Language EN
If the default report language EN is specified, the user can log on to the system in any language. In the default language EN, a label is always displayed or a print request is always generated.
