Documentation
Definition
Number which uniquely identifies a version of an <DS:GLOS.address list>address list for a direct mailing campaign.
Use
For accurate targeting of your direct mailing campaign, create several versions using different selection criteria. You can then perform one or more of following operations on the versions to give you the final mailing list:
- Union
Combining two versions
- Intersection
Selecting from two versions addresses which match particular selection criteria
- Difference
Selecting from a version addresses which do not match selection criteria which other addresses in this version and second version do
The results of these operations can be stored either as new versions or replace existing versions.
You assign an indicator to the version which is to be used as the mailing list for the direct mailing campaign.
Examples
- Union:
Version 0001 contains addresses of customers with a turnover of over 10,000,000 USD. You then create version 0002 which contains all customers on the East Coast. You subsequently unite versions 0001 and 0002 to create a new version 0001
- Intersection
The following versions exist:
- 0001 - Customers with a turnover over 10,000,000 USD
- 0002 - Customers on the East Coast
You then create a new version of version 0001 which contains all customers on the East Coast who have a turnover of over 10,000,000 USD.
- Difference
The following versions exist:
- 0001 - Customers with a turnover over 10,000,000 USD
- 0002 - Customers with a turnover over 10,000,000 USD on the East Coast
You then create version 0003 which contains all the customers with a turnover of over 10,000,000 USD who are not based on the East Coast. Version 0003 contains all the addresses from version 0001 which do not appear in version 0002.
