Documentation
Definition
A classification of valuation types.
Use
The valuation result category determines whether the performance-related valuation is calculated on the basis of the difference valuation or the absolute valuation. The valuation result category selected is not dependent on the settings of the underlying valuation types.
Dependencies
The valuation result category of a valuation type must not be changed.
Note that the choice of valuation result category will also have an effect on the liability scenario:
- If the remuneration is based on the difference valuation, the liability is only proportionate to the difference valuation.
- If the remuneration is based on the absolute valuation, the liability is proportionate to the absolute valuation.
For this reason we recommend carrying out the calculation using the difference valuation and not the absolute valuation for the following reasons:
- In the calculation, the absolute valuation takes account of activities that were already performed and thus results in additional remuneration for past performance. This is technically sound, but it is not normally the result you want to achieve.
- If you use the absolute valuation, you must have created an appropriate liability scenario that takes all factors into account.
