Definition
The valuation margin is the difference in percent between the retail value and the cost value of a material in relation to the retail value:
Valuation margin = (total retail - total cost) / total retail x 100
Use
The valuation margin is used to determine the cost value of a value-only material at retail if no stock exists at retail.
