Definition
Quantity ordered by the buyer and to be supplied by the vendor.
Use
The order quantity refers to the order unit. This is used for checking purposes at goods receipt and in invoice verification.
Use of the order quantity in allocation tables
In an allocation table, the system calculates the order quantity from the planned quantity. The order quantities cannot be changed.
With a two-step procurement process (i.e. the store orders from the distribution center which in turn orders from a vendor), the distribution center may often only need to order a part of the stock from the vendor and use stock-on hand to cover the remaining requirements.
You can achieve this by reducing the actual quantity ordered. The new reduced quantity is that actually ordered from the vendor. It has to be the same or smaller than the order quantity.
Further information on quantity determination in allocation tables
In an allocation table, the planned quantity for a DC is based on the total planned quantities for all plants supplied by the DC. The system uses the planned quantity for the DC to determine the order quantity for the DC as follows:
- It determines the order unit.
- It converts the planned quantity to order units.
- If the rounding indicator allows it, the order quantity is rounded off.
You cannot change the order quantity in an allocation table.
The system automatically uses the order quantity as the reduced order quantity. You can, however, have the reduced order quantity set by user exit EXIT_SAPLWAUF_005 (e.g. you could reduce the order quantity by the quantity on-hand in the DC). You can also change the reduced order quantity manually.
If there are several delivery phases for a distribution center and the reduced order quantity differs from the order quantity, you have to enter the reduced order quantity for every delivery date manually in the following transactions:
- Create allocation table
- Change allocation table
- Edit replies for allocation table (maintenance of confirmed quantities)
When stores report their requested quantities, the system distributes the reduced order quantity in proportion to the order quantity in the following cases:
- Requested quantity reported via "Communication per plant"
- Requested quantity reported via SAP Retail Store
- Requested quantity reported via IDoc
Notes
Every time the order quantity is changed, the system automatically takes the new quantity as the reduced order quantity. This is also the case if you entered the reduced quantity manually. This means that any quantity you entered manually is overwritten automatically, for example if the system automatically changes the store quantities.
