key that defines a document type.

Use

The document type classifies documents in Accounts Receivable and Payable. It is saved in the document header when a document is posted.

A number range is allocated to each document type for creation of single documents. The number range determines the document number.

You can also allocate further number ranges for automatic mass creation of documents in the background. Such number ranges might be used by payment programs, for example.

Further number ranges are not required if an external number range has been allocated to the document type.
