Definition

Indicator for distinguishing debit and credit postings.

Debit postings use indicator D:

  • Debit postings in the Financial Accounting component (FI)
  • Cancellation of credit postings in FI
  • Receiver postings in the Controlling component (CO)
  • Cancellation of receiver postings in CO

Credit postings use indicator C (except credit postings from settlement and from shipment to warehouse; see below):

  • Credit postings in FI
  • Cancellation of debit postings in FI
  • Sender postings in CO
  • Cancellation of sender postings in CO

Credit postings from order settlement use indicator O.

Credit postings from shipment to warehouse use indicator S.

The indicator is independent of the posted amounts and of the balancing posting's indicator. For example, a debit posting of 100 USD in FI uses indicator D and + 100 USD; the corresponding credit posting uses indicator C and - 100 USD.
