Definition
Already-settled portion of income for the condition record.
Already-settled income is to be taken into account in the case of multiple settlement of a condition record. When final settlement is carried out with regard to a condition, income from interim settlements must be offset against the total amount calculated as being due for the period as a whole.
Example
Assume the rebate arrangement is valid from 01.01. to 12.31. of the year.
- If settlement with regard to the arrangement is effected periodically (say quarterly), you can, for example, agree on a condition stipulating payment of a rebate of 3% on the business volume achieved during a quarter-year period.
- 1st. quarter busn. volume $20,000, $600 income from interim settlement
- 2nd. quarter busn. volume $30,000, $900 income from interim settlement
- 3rd. quarter busn. volume $20,000, $600 income from interim settlement
- 4th. quarter busn. volume $30,000, $900 income from interim settlement
Assume that a condition stipulating a rebate of 5% on an annual business volume in excess of $75,000 is agreed. On final settlement, this yields a further income of $2,000.
The income from the interim settlements amounting to $3,000 must be offset against the total amount calculated as being due over the period as a whole at the time of final settlement.
