Definition

Total income from the condition record (that is the total of the income derived from settlement with regard to the condition record plus a proportion of the income derived from the final settlement accounting process (provided that the latter was in fact carried out).

  • Using the Customizing facility, you can specify for an arrangement type that settlement with regard to a condition record is to take place once only at the end of the validity period of the rebate arrangement. In this case, there is no final settlement (that is to say, the only income is that derived from settlement with regard to the condition record).

  • On the other hand, you can specify that final settlement is to be carried out with regard to a condition. At the end of the validity period of the arrangement (for example, at the end of the year), final settlement is effected on the basis of the total business volume achieved during the period of the rebate arrangement (annual business volume). Income deriving from interim settlements effected over this period is offset against the total amount of rebate payable on this overall business volume.

Total income here is thus the income from interim settlement plus a proportion of the income attributable to final settlement. The two values are updated in separate fields.

Within the framework of database entries, list output etc., the income shown always relates to the area of validity indicated by the environment.

For example, the income can relate to one of the following levels: condition record, plant, purchasing organization, purchasing group, or condition granter.

Example

Assume the arrangement is valid from 01.01. to 12.31. of the year.

  • If the arrangement is subject to once-only settlement, you can, for example, agree on a condition stipulating a rebate of 3% on a business volume of $100,000. This yields an income of $3,000, which is updated in the field "Income for condition record'. The field 'Income from final settlement' remains empty. Total income is of course $3,000.

  • If settlement with regard to the arrangement is effected periodically (say quarterly), you can, for example, agree on a condition stipulating a rebate of 3% on the business volume achieved during a quarter-year period.

  • 1st. quarter busn. volume $20,000, $600 income from interim settlement
  • 2nd. quarter busn. volume $30,000, $900 income from interim settlement
  • 3rd. quarter busn. volume $20,000, $600 income from interim settlement
  • 4th. quarter busn. volume $30,000, $900 income from interim settlement

The updating of the income for the individual quarters (that is, condition records) is carried out in the field 'Income for condition record'.

Assume that a condition stipulating a rebate of 5% on an annual business volume in excess of $75,000 is agreed. On final settlement, this yields an income of $2,000 ($5,000 less the $3,000 already paid). A proportionate amount of $400 is allocated to the first quarter (updated in the field 'Income from final settlement').

Total income for the 1st quarter thus amounts to $1,000 (made up of $600 from the interim settlement plus a further $400 allocated on a proportionate basis following final settlement).
