Documentation
Definition
Indicator identifying a general practitioner.
Note
As a result of the act amending German law regarding sickness fund-affiliated physicians, the sickness-fund-affiliated physician number in the country version Germany is being replaced with the place of work number from July 2008.
Until 06/30/2008, the 7- or 9-digit sickness-fund-affiliated physician number is used to identify doctor's practices, group practices, and accreditations.
This field no longer has any significance in billing and printing of PPA forms that include the date 07/01/2008 once PPA billing has taken place for the 2nd quarter, 2008. From then on, the field serves a purely documentary purpose.
From now on, only the physician number (lifelong physician number) and the place of work number are used to identify the physician and indicate the location at which they perform services.
