The application area is used for organizational purposes in archiving to assign an archive file to an application.

When the archive files are assigned a name automatically via the Platform-independent file names, the application area is passed to the placeholder "<PARAM_1>" if "<PARAM_1>" is contained in the physical file name or path.

Only the application area BC (SAP Web AS) has a special meaning. For archiving objects assigned to BC, ADK does not run any checks for possible conflicts with a local currency changeover. Entries for these BC archiving objects in transaction HOSH are ignored and all actions (write, reload, and so on) are marked as uncritical for the euro conversion
