Definition

All Central Performance History (CPH) data is characterized by its resolution and its aggregate.

  • The resolution (minute, quarter-hour, hour, or day) specifies the proportion of a day over which the performance values are averaged.
  • The aggregate (day, X days, week, month, quarter, or year) specifies the number of days over which the above fractions of a day are averaged.

Use

In the CPH, aggregation is primarily used to reduce the database's memory requirements. Collected performance values are only stored for a defined period of time in the CPH, before they are aggregated and the original data is deleted. Information loss is inevitably connected with each aggregation; without aggreation, however, the space requirement of the CPH would grow beyond all limits in the long term.

Dependencies

Example

A weekly aggregate with hourly resolution contains 24 hourly mean values, in each of which the values from an hour (such as 12:00 to 13:00) are aggregated from the 7 days of the week into one value.
