Definition
Specifies that the Component Maintenance Cockpit (CMC) uses real-time mode (RTM) on order code level for the alert settings on operation level. The CMC uses the actual time that is recorded in confirmations instead of the standard duration of the operation. The system determines the remaining work time for each operation (standard duration - actual confirmed time) and a simulated end date that it compares against the scheduled latest end date. It uses this information to set the corresponding alert settings defined in Customizing. The alert setting may change each time a confirmation is posted.
If you do not select this indicator, the CMC determines the alert settings based on a simulation of work in progress (WIP). The actual start date triggers the alert settings and the CMC uses the standard operation duration to check whether the latest scheduled end date is achievable. This simulation mode is recommended if the operation has a short duration and in cases where you cannot guarantee that partial confirmations are posted in real-time during work on the operation.
However, the simulation mode does not consider any delays that may occur after the actual start date. This means that the alert setting never changes after the initial setting. This calculation assumes a linear time flow during the repair activity without large deviations from the standard operation time.
Procedure
Select this indicator if confirmations are posted in real-time during work on the operation.
You can restrict the real-time mode to individual orders depending on the order duration by defining a minimum order and operation duration in fields Min.Opr.Dur. and Min.Ord.Dur.
Examples
Dependencies
This method requires actual data and relies on partial confirmations being posted in real-time. This method is not recommended if you only post one confirmation at the end of an operation.
This method is not recommended for operations with a short duration.
If no confirmation is posted in actual time against the operation the system uses the simulation mode by default.
Real-time mode is only activated if:
- you set the RTM indicator on order code level
- the minimum duration of the order/operation is exceeded (depending on input)
- at least one confirmation exists.
