Definition
Order types that are to be assigned to the processed order type as target or source order types.
Identifier that allows a distinction to be made between different kinds of purchase order in the SAP system.
For example, by means of the order type, you can distinguish between a standard purchase order and a stock transport order, although both documents belong to the order category "purchase order".
The order type controls (for instance) the number assignment of a purchase order and determines which fields you must maintain.
