Definition
Offset of the part of the source field which is transferred to the characteristic you want to derive. An offset of n means that the first n characters of the source field are skipped. The character n + 1 is transferred as the first character. Consequently, the maximum allowed offset is the length of the field minus one.
Example:
The source field has the value "DE001". Offset 2 and field length 3 means that "001" is transferred.
