Use
In this step you assign the control profiles for quantity optimizing to the various applications. You can also make individual customer-specific entries. These then take priority over the SAP standard settings.

Example
"Control Profile 1" delivered by SAP is valid for a standard purchase order "Application A". If you create the purchase order from the MRP workbench with "Control Profile 5", then this special profile takes priority.
Further notes
Your own setting overrides the setting delivered by SAP which relates to the same level.
If, for example, an application ZA exists without a transaction code and has "Control Profile 6", then this control profile is used when a standard purchase order is created. If the purchase order were to be created from the MRP workbench, then "Control Profile 5" would be used instead.
