Use
In this Customizing activity, you define budgetary periods that the system can use for planning the annual budget.
When you run the Annual Budget for Budgetary Period program, you enter a key date. In this activity, the program first checks to which validity period the key date belongs and then calculates the budget for each budgetary period.
Requirements
You have defined settlement variants in the Customizing activity Settlement Variants.
Note:
A budgetary period must not be longer than the settlement period.
The settlement period can only be a whole multiple of the budgetary period. If, for example, the settlement period is 6 months, the budgetary period can cover 1, 2, 3, or 6 months.

If you defined a 12-month-long settlement period, you can define the budgetary period as follows:

This means that the budgetary period will be two months long. When you plan the annual budget for budgetary periods with the Annual Budget for Budgetary Periods program, the system checks the settlement period and the budgetary period settings based on the key date, and distributes the annual budget amounts among 6 2-month-long budgetary periods.
