The following describes how to schedule a job for background processing and how the job is to be executed:

  1. Schedule the job.
    1. Identify the job.
    2. Specify a mail recipient (optional) for the spool requests generated by the job.
    3. Specify the start time or start condition for the job as well as whether the job is to be repeated automatically.
    4. Define the job steps.
    5. Save the complete job so that it can be transferred to the background processing system.
  2. Release the job so that it can be executed. A job can only be executed after it has been released. This is also the case for jobs that have been scheduled for immediate processing.

    If you have administrator authorization or release authorization for end users, your job is automatically released during scheduling.
