In this step, you define the access sequences for message control.

The access sequence is a search strategy with which the SAP System searches for valid message records.

Example

Requirements

Standard settings

Recommendation

  • Use the access sequences provided in the standard system.
  • If you wish to create a new access sequence, you should copy a similar, already-existing one and make any necessary changes. The key of your own access sequence should begin with Y or Z, since SAP keeps this name range free for customers.

Activities

If you wish to define your own access sequence, proceed as follows:

  • Access sequences

Enter an alphanumeric key up to 4 characters in length for the access sequence, together with a descriptive text.

  • Accesses
    • Enter a sequential number for the access within the access sequence.
    • Specify the condition table containing the key fields of the message records.
    • If necessary, specify a requirement for the message determination process.
  • Fields

Here you specify with which data from the communication structure the condition table is read.

Link here the desired fields of the communication structure with the relevant fields of the condition table.

Note
When defining the access sequences, take care that every possible combination of messages is provided for. If a purchasing document does not satisfy the conditions for message determination, it cannot be outputted.
