In this workstep, you can control whether a pick-handling unit is automatically created during transfer order creation.
If the quantity to pick should be repacked into the pick-handling unit, a pick-handling unit must be assigned to the transfer order at the latest when the transfer order is confirmed. You can assign pick-handling units as follows:
- Automatic pick-HU creation using Customizing when transfer orders are created (see below for description).
- Using transaction 'Assign Pick-HU to Transfer Order' (LH01).
- On the initial screen for TO confirmation (LT12).
- Using the IDoc 'WMPHID01'.
Automatic Pick-HU Creation When Transfer Orders Are Created
Depending on the storage types involved and the movement type within the transfer order, you can control pick-handling unit creation. If you always want to pick into a pick-HU for a certain combination of storage types with a certain packaging material type, enter the number of this particular packaging material in the 'Packaging Material' field.
If you do not enter a packaging material, the system attempts to find a common packaging material for all materials in the transfer order. Note that this has a negative effect on performance for transfer order creation.
You can use the 'Automatic Pick-HU Creation' field to control whether a handling unit with the relevant packaging material type is created immediately and is assigned to the transfer order. If you enter '1' in this field, only one handling unit is created for each transfer order.
If you enter '2' in this field, only the packaging material determined in the transfer order is determined. This can be useful, for example, if you want to send the transfer order to an external system, and to then inform this external system about the permitted packaging material.
If you activate the 'User Exit' field, the user exit 'BADI_HU_AUTOPACK' is called. This user exit enables the system to determine several pick-HUs for the transfer order. These HUs are then created and assigned to the transfer order.
