Within the WM system, there is the transaction "Transfer order --> Create --> For storage unit". This transaction records a storage unit via its storage unit number, confirms the movement (if required), and creates a transfer order that moves the storage unit to its destination.

You can use this transaction at an ID point: for example, storage units are moved from a goods receipt area to an ID point in a high-rack storage area. Here they are recorded via the storage unit number and then passed on to their final storage bin by means of a transfer order.

The main input parameter, in addition to the storage unit number, is the movement type. This is used to move the storage unit out of the ID point.
The movement type controls, among other things, the storage bin search. You should therefore define a movement type at the ID point that transfers the storage unit out of the ID point into the respective storage type (for example, to the high-rack storage area).

Since the movements at an ID point are usually of the same type (storage units are received and then forwarded to their respective storage types), the activities at an ID point are usually processed with one and the same movement type. So that this movement type is automatically proposed by the system, you can define the required movement type in the transaction parametrization control for an ID point transaction.

Default Settings

The ID point transaction delivered by SAP is the transaction LT09. This transaction has movement type 999 as a default value.

SAP Recommendation

SAP recommends that you replace movement type 999 by a new ID point movement type. Movement type 999 is only a sample movement type that is not assigned to any particular warehouse movement.

Actions

  1. Define new movement types that contain the required parameters (for example, the destination storage type).
  2. If you have only one ID point in your warehouse, change the default movement type of Transaction LT09 to your new ID point movement type.

If you have several ID points in your warehouse, define a separate ID point transaction for each ID point and then define the default movement type for each ID point transaction.

  1. First define a new transaction within the SAP development environment. For this transaction, select the same parameters as for Transaction LT09 (module pool, screen number, and so on).
  2. Now, in view V_T340 copy the parameters of Transaction LT09 into your new transaction.
  3. Change the default movement type to the required movement type.
