In this step, you create a selection variant for collective processing in periodic bulk processing. You use collective variants for the following functions in the Project System.

  • Cross-project settlement
  • Overhead calculation
  • Interest calculation
  • Determination of project-related incoming orders

You can define both the content and the structure of the selection variant.

Example

If you want to select your objects by date, define a selection variant which contains only the master data fields relevant to dates.

Activities

  1. Create your own selection variant as follows:
    1. Access the function "Selection variants".
      2. The screen "ABAP/4: Variants - Initial Screen" is displayed.
    2. Enter a name for your variant in the corresponding field, select the object component "Values" and press "Create".
    3. You branch to the screen "Maintain Variants for <your report>". The selection fields which are defined for the corresponding ABAP/4 report are displayed here.
    4. Enter the corresponding values for the required fields.
    5. Press "Continue".
    6. You branch to attribute maintenance for the selection variant. You can assign the following field attributes here:
      7. Protected
      The value you have defined for the field can no longer be overwritten in the application.
      Hidden
      The field is hidden from the selection variant display.
      Variable
      You use this indicator to define a variable for a field. The field is then provided with the corresponding value at runtime.
    7. When you have maintained the attributes and entered a short text in the "Description" field, you can save your entries.

This variant is now available when you access collective processing for settlement and surcharge calculation.
