In this step, you make the required settings for connection to an electronic communication system. This involves creating the valid subtype of the Mail Address infotype (1032) and the Communication infotype (0105) for the recipient address.

Note
You maintain the Communication infotype for the object types Person (P) and Applicant (AP), and the Mail Address infotype for all Personnel Planning objects (such as Organizational Units, External Persons and so on).

In addition, you specify the target system (RFC destination) for messages transmitted.

Requirements

  • Check that the relevant subtype of the Mail Address infotype (1032) actually exists in the step Maintain Subtypes.
  • Check that the relevant subtype of the Communication infotype (0105) exists in the step Create Communication Types.
  • Check whether a valid connection has been created for the target system in the step Define RFC Destination.

Standard settings

  • The entry "MAIL_SAPSY" contains the subtype 0001 in the field Value of semantic abbr. for the Mail Address infotype (1032) and the Communication infotype (0105).
  • The entry MAIL_DESTN contains the value Blank in the field Value of semantic abbr.. This means that the target system for messages is the current logon system.

Recommendation

You should use the standard settings.

Activities

  1. Check whether the value in the field Value of semantic abbr. of the entry MAIL_SAPSY is the correct subtype.
  2. Check whether the value in the field Value of semantic abbr. of the entry MAIL_DESTN is a valid RFC destination (or Blank).
