In this IMG activity, you create conversion groups, assign external function calls to the conversion groups, and link a reading group to the conversion group.
Conversion group definition
The conversion group defines the conversion routines (C-code routines or ABAP function modules) that will be used in the quantity conversion calculations. By assigning a conversion group to a material in the material master record, you activate the material for quantity conversion calculations.
Standard settings
The standard conversion groups are those that reference C-code routines that perform quantity conversion calculations based on API tables 5 & 6, 23 & 24, 53 & 54, and 59 & 60. Those are delivered as a standard configuration with the IS-Oil system.
Further notes
Once a conversion group has been assigned to a material in the material master record, it is no longer possible to change any of the conversion group data.
External function calls and sequence
Here, you link a conversion group to a function module that performs the quantity conversion calculations. You also specify the call sequence for the external subroutines (for example, API C-codes).
Reading group
In this step, you assign a reading group to the conversion group. That assignment means that exactly that selection of parameters will be used for the quantity conversion calculation, that were contained in the reading group.
The parameters defined in the reading group are also the parameters, for which default values can be created with the help of the new default maintenance transaction. To do that, a parameter has to be selected in table OIB07 (Define QCI parameters).
ID for physical properties data
Here, you link a set of physical properties data to a conversion group.
You use this link to specify which set of physical properties data is relevant for a given combination of material and conversion group.
