The SAP System identifies input price and quantity variances even if the recording and posting of consumption quantities is too involved, or not required.
In this IMG activity you create a variance percentage rate for a cost element, based either on the controlling area or on a period interval within a fiscal year.
After defining the variance percentage rate, the system records costs and variances involved during primary postings. The quantity variance is thereby identified as remaining input variance.
Note
Remember that the variance percentage rates are based on the costs to be determined, without variances.
Example
You post $1000 to account 400000. For this account you have defined a primary input price variance of 10%, or $100. 110% equals $1100.
Requirements
Complete the following IMG activities:
- Activate Cost Center Accounting in Controlling Area

- Create Cost Elements
To do this see the Implementation Guide under Cost Element Accounting -> Master Data -> Cost Elements -> Create Cost Elements.
Activities
Create the price variance in accordance with your requirements.
