Use

In this activity, you can create an information model for the SAP HANA Studio.

Such a model enables you to analyze CO-PA data directly from SAP HANA. This activity is not necessary when using the CO-PA Accelerator.

You create XML files on the basis of an existing operating concern. You can select all or some of the characteristics, value fields, and key figures of this operating concern to define an information model.

When generating the files, the system creates attribute views for all characteristics used and a list of all tables required for the replication to the SAP HANA database.

Requirements

Standard settings

Activities

  • Make the general settings for the information model:
    • Enter a unique technical name and a descriptive name for the information model or choose an existing model.
    • Specify the local path for storing the XML files
    • We recommend that you only change the following settings in special cases:
    • If you want to use a customer-defined transformation to create the attributes or analytic views, you can replace the default transformations here.
Likewise, you can replace the name pattern for the attribute views or the database structure.
    • You can set the technical settings as general or user-specific default settings.

  • Create one or more analytic views for the information model:
    • On the "Define Structures" tab page, enter a unique technical name and a descriptive name for a new analytic view or choose an existing view.
    • Specify whether the analytic view is used to analyze actual data or plan data and whether realignments are considered.
    • Choose the characteristics, value fields, and key figures that you want the analytic view to contain.
    • When selecting the characteristics, you can use the "Dimension" column to specify whether an attribute view is created for the selected characteristic in the assigned information model or whether an existing view from a different model is used.
  • Check the results:

On the "Results" tab page, you find the following:

    • All tables required for the replication to the SAP HANA database for the selected information model.
    • A list of the XML files to be created
    • A display of the XML files for the attributes and analytic views
  • Creation of the XML files:
    • On the menu bar, choose the function "Execute Download" to create the XML files in the repository specified in the first step. You can import this repository to the SAP HANA Studio. Note that you cannot activate the information model in SAP HANA Studio until all required database tables are defined in SAP HANA.
