The depreciation keys contain parameters for the calculation of depreciation, and internal calculation keys for controlling:
- ordinary depreciation
- special depreciation
- scrap value (cutoff value)
- interest calculation
You can specify your own depreciation key in the asset master record per depreciation area.
Requirements
- You must have created a separate chart of depreciation of your own.
Standard settings
SAP supplies depreciation keys for each country in keeping with the respective country's legal requirements.

Further notes (Transport)
You can include the depreciation key in a transport request in the overview screen of the transaction under Key -> Transport. Note that the definition of the calculation key applies only in specific clients. Therefore, you need to transport not only if you need transports between systems (for example, from a test system to a productive system), but also in order to make the depreciation key available in other clients.
