The standard Asset Accounting reports are grouped together in a report selection tree. Some of these reports are created using ABAP Query. In this step, you define new ABAP queries for Asset Accounting.

ABAP queries are either limited to a given client, or are not client-specific. Whether they are client-specific or not depends on on whether the queries are defined in the standard application area or in the global application area. You have to transport client-specific queries, in order to make them available in other clients (transaction SQ02).

Standard settings

SAP provides various standard queries for Asset Accounting (for example, the inventory list). You can use these queries directly, or copy them and modify them to your requirements.

The following functional areas and queries are available:
AM01 / 01 Inventory lists
AM02 / 02 Real estate and similar rights
AM03 / 03 Vehicles
AM04 / 04 Leasing
AM07 / 07 Depreciation
AM07 / 11 Write-ups
AM08 / 12 Revaluation and backlog
AM09 / 13 Gain for transfer of reserves
AM11 / 05 Adress data for an asset
AM27 / 27 Depreciation posted, related to cost centers

All standard queries for Asset Accounting are provided in the global application area. As a result, they are not client-specific, and you do not have to transport them.

Recommendation

When you define your own queries, you can decide yourself if you want to create them in the global application area (not client-specific) or in the standard application area (client-specific).

SAP recommends that you define your own queries in the global application area (not client-specific). However, you should use your own user group. To create your own user group, copy the user group AM with all of its queries. Name your user group using a name in the protected name range (with X,Y or Z).

Activities

  1. Assign all SAP users, who need to use ABAP queries, to the user group /SAPQUERY/AM (Environment -> User groups).
  2. Define queries to meet your needs.
    1. Choose the application area in which you want to define your query (Environment -> Application areas).
    2. Copy and modify the standard queries of Asset Accounting. Under Environment -> User groups, you can copy the user group AM with all of its standard queries.
    3. If you want to copy the SAP standard queries from the global application area to the standard application area, you have to use the transport transaction SQ02.
