In this section you define the basic settings that are required for transportation planning, and for status and event verification through the forwarding agents. The forwarding agents work with the sender's
SAP System via the Internet. Or if there is an event verification, they use a WAP-enabled mobile. For this purpose, each user needs an SAP system user.
The following basic settings are possible:
Forwarding Agent User Assignment
Assign one or several SAP system users to a forwarding agent in the SAP master data record
Master Data of Shipment
Assign a parameter record consisting of the shipment type and planning point as well as a packaging material to a forwarding agent in the SAP master data record. The packaging material is used in transportation planning as an ID for the means of transport (for example, license plate number of the truck) that the forwarding agent is using.
Selection Variants of the Shipment
You can provide each forwarding agent with one or several variants for the shipment search. For each selection variant, you can define whether this is to be available in transportation planning or in shipment tendering.
Selection Variants for Delivery
You can provide each forwarding agent with one or several variants for the delivery search.
Limitation of Available Delivery Selection
Each variant for the delivery search can be used to limit the number of deliveries found (deliveries not processed using a variant), that is, for outbound and inbound deliveries.
If you limit the available delivery selection using a variable, you get the average number of deliveries,
calculated using the deliveries of the available selection and the variant that you defined for limiting the delivery selection for a particular forwarding agent and particular shipment type (handling type) in Customizing.
When calculating the average number, the system only takes account of inclusive values of the variant for parameters that correspond in the available delivery selection.
You can only enter individual values, not value ranges. The exception to this rule is the delivery date: here, you can only enter value ranges, not individual values.
All parameters of the variant that do not agree with the available selection and are of an excluding character are taken into account in full during the calculation of the average quantity.

For each forwarding agent, set up suitable variants with approriate names for the shipments to be processed by the agent in question so that processing is made as easy as possible.
Activities
Assign at least one SAP system user to each forwarding agent. This is the minimum requirement for the functioning of the shipment event verification.
To be able to use transportation planning or shipment tendering, you must also assign at least a shipment type and a planning point, and, if necessary, a packaging material to each forwarding agent that works in your system.
The selection variants that can be used by the forwarding agent to select shipments or deliveries are not compulsory.
Further notes
All the selection variants can be changed on the maintenance screen. Simply press the button "Maintain".
