In this step, you define the terminology catalogs and catalog languages you need, in addition to those contained in the standard system.

Standard settings

The table has the delivery class E. In the standard system, several catalogs have predefined functions or are reserved for later use. If you define your own supplementary catalogs, use the catalogs P through Z.

Recommendation

  • During the testing phase, set up the catalog types so the codes can be deleted in the database. In the production phase, set up the catalog types so the codes are switched to inactive, instead of being deleted. This prevents the deleted codes from inadvertantly being restored and given another meaning.
  • Do not delete the catalogs reserved for SAP! This is especially critical for catalogs 1 and 3, since they contain special functions that are required for quality inspection.

Activities

  1. Familiarize yourself with the functions in the catalogs that can be preset (use the F1 Help in the "Catalog Types" view).
  2. Define the desired catalog types and their properties.
  3. Document the catalog types in the same languages, in which the code groups and codes of the respective catalogs will be documented.

Additional Information

  • The following catalogs have additional functions:
    • 1 Characteristic attributes
    • 2 Tasks
    • 3 Usage decisions
    • 9 Defect types
  • You can only use catalogs 1 and 3 in conjunction with selected sets.
A valuation of the codes in the selected sets is obligatory.
  • Selected sets are defined at plant level in the user language.
  • For catalog 2, or for other catalogs that are used as task catalogs in quality notifications, you can define follow-up actions at code level in the code groups.
  • For catalog 3, you can define follow-up actions at code level in the selected sets.
